Willamette Writers Conference 2010

Category: events

Attending the 2010 Willamette Writers Conference. Always a very stimulating experience. This year I’ve got a couple of screenplays to pitch, although my strongest one is “Remembering Sarah” — a comedy drama about a 50-something writer, washed up and widowed, who regains his passion for life and for writing after he meets his 20-something son’s new girlfriend. The other screenplay is a romantic comedy I co-wrote with Wendy Stec, another local screenwriter, called “Going My Way” — the story of two young people who discover the meaning of love and the importance of family.

This year I’m pitching several new people, as well as a few I met at last year’s conference. So I’ll get a sense of whether there are any advantages or disadvantages to having a history with people. Looking forward to an excellent collection of speakers, including as always, my screenwriting teacher and inspiration, Cynthia Whitcomb.
