A writing friend recently introduced me to Amazon Studios. It seems that Amazon has jumped into the movie business by becoming a producer of sorts, and has a first look agreement with Warner Bros.

Really interesting event last night — The Brave New World of Media, which was sponsored by WebVisions. Held at the Hollywood Theatre (featuring incredibly heavy downpours of rain on the way there) in (where else) Portland’s Hollywood neighborhood over in Northeast.

Met for the second time last night with a new writing group. These guys are dedicated screenwriters who’ve been pumping out screenplays for the past decade, and I count myself fortunate to be a part of their occasional meet-ups.
