Family Comedy:
The Lamp
THE LAMP is a family comedy about a frustrated 30-year-old guy named Matt James who needs help figuring out what’s important in life. Help arrives when he discovers the long-lost Aladdin’s Lamp, and 12-year-old Albert (Al) Laddin and his 13-year-old sidekick Jeannie show up to grant Matt his wishes. Al and Jeannie are filling in for their parents who aren’t available for this mission, and they have strict instructions to not get emotionally involved with their clients. But when Al and Jeannie become friends with Matt’s wife, Emma, they decide to do their best to keep Matt from venturing into the dark side of unlimited power and opportunity. THE LAMP is a story for everyone — young and old, male and female — about the importance of loyalty and honesty, and the value of friends and family.
Comedy Drama:
Remembering Sarah
REMEMBERING SARAH is an award-winning comedy drama that takes place in Portland. It tells the story of a widowed and washed up, 50-something writer who regains his passion for life when he meets his son’s new 20-something girlfriend.

Romantic Comedy:
Going My Way
GOING MY WAY is a romantic comedy I co-wrote with another Portland Screenwriter, Wendy Stec. This screenplay tells the story of two people who need to learn what love really means, as well as coming to terms with the importance family plays in their lives. Both characters — one driving and one hitchhiking – begin a cross-country journey in Boston with the destination of Portland. Along the way, they meet some interesting characters and find that their journey involves more than simply getting from one place to another.
Fantasy Suspense / Drama:
Dreaming of Me (aka Deadpoint – Rewrite)
DREAMING OF ME is a major rewrite of DEADPOINT. After I pitched DEADPOINT at the Willamette Writers Conference in 2009, two producers asked for a rewrite of the second act (and, obviously, the third act) by changing the characters from kids to 20-somethings about to get married. I thought it was interesting that both of these folks said pretty much exactly the same thing, so I decided to go through with it. Honestly, it was a bitch, because it completely changed the story… that’s why I’m presenting it as a separate screenplay. However, it really is just a significant rewrite. I submitted it to Amazon Studios as a “Second Draft” of DEADPOINT.

Fantasy Suspense / Drama:
Deadpoint
DEADPOINT is a suspenseful fantasy drama (I’m told it could be called a supernatural love story). It’s the story of a 50-something Oregon couple that has a car wreck and both of them end up in a coma. During this time of time of trial, they are transported back to their youth in Kansas, and faced with the nearly insurmountable challenge of getting back to the present day before their rock-climbing kids pull the plug on them. Deadpoint, by the way, is a rock-climbing term.
